First, thank you to everyone who reached out to offer their condolences to me over the loss of my older brother, Troy. It meant a lot and it was very touching.
I am taking a break from my break because there are some upcoming deadlines I wanted to send out a reminder for.
And because I recently gained a total of 100 subscribers to this Substack (THANK YOU!), I wanted to celebrate by throwing in some other submission calls that have deadlines right around the corner as well!
First, there is the anthology FUBAR: An Anthology of Tech Horror.
This anthology is slated for release in December, but the submission deadline is coming up quick! If you have a story that just might fit with this theme and haven’t submitted it yet, please send it our way!
The submission deadline for the FUBAR anthology is August 22.
And guess what? There are now TWO WAYS to submit to this anthology!

Some of you may have noticed the call for submissions to the Week of Terrors anthology series. Two of the books in this series are now full: Monday and Friday.
The Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Saturday and Sunday anthologies all still need stories!

I’m thrilled that we are moving ever closer to FINALLY releasing this book. There were so many things that happened which disrupted this book’s original release date in June. All of you writers who have stories in this book have been amazing in being so patient and understanding about the delay! We love you guys! Seriously!

Week of Terrors Anthology series
Twisted Dreams Press is now accepting submissions for a new anthology series! It is seven books with ten stories in each book.
The first anthology will be published in June. The others will follow in the subsequent months. Submissions of stories for all anthologies opens the beginning of April.
Open until each anthology has ten stories. We will announce when an anthology is no longer accepting submissions.
Series Name: A Week of Terrors!
Here are the themes:
Monster Monday: Creature Horror Stories
Terrifying Tuesday: Evil Clowns
Werewolf Wednesday
Thriller Thursday: Zombies
Frightening Friday: Mix of horror subgenres: psychological horror, eco-horror, cyberpunk horror, erotic horror, etc.
Slasher Saturday: Slasher horror
Spooky Sunday: Ghost stories
Payment: One print and digital copy.

We are eager to publish firsthand experiences by those living with a disability, reflections of the author’s personal experiences with societal justices towards illnesses, and the after-effects of discrimination on an author’s identity and sexuality. We encourage submissions from all over the world, regardless of gender or identity.”

"Fascination
Imagine a tall figure in black robes wearing a mask that looks like a deer skull, antlers backlit by moonlight. Or perhaps it is not a mask and the shape beneath the robes something much more than human.
Imagine a thatch-roofed fairy tale cottage deep in a forest, with a lake of black water for a front lawn. Imagine what creatures the cottage’s occupant keeps trapped beneath the water, waiting to be called forth to do their bidding.
Imagine a table set with a faded red and white gingham tablecloth, an overflowing fruit bowl and a milk bottle filled with daisies. Imagine, also, an ancient human skull perched atop the fruit and a lazy viper crawling out from one of its empty eye sockets.
Imagine fluffy white bunnies hopping through walls of brambles with ease, moonlit clearings where women in flower crowns summon ancient evils into their world. Trees whose green leaves part to reveal hundreds of twisted faces within their bark, or rose bushes whose perfume brings the plague. Circles of salt, twisted krisses, bat-winged raccoons, moss-laden trees and half-melted candles.
These are the sorts of images I want to fill the pages of this anthology with. I want nature-fueled magic, witches and dark fae. Creepy cottages, haunted homesteads and bespelled woods.
Submit them to me that I might find myself enchanted and unsettled by them in equal measure and bind them all together within this anthology which I call Fascination."
